What Is the ALP for AAC?

The ALP for AAC (Assessment of Learning Progression) is a helpful framework adapted from powered mobility research to support individuals learning how to access and use speech-generating devices. It breaks the learning journey into three stages and eight phases, making it easier for teachers, therapists, and families to understand progress. By assessing five key areas, the ALP guides support teams in identifying where a learner is and how to help them move forward with their AAC access method.

Engage

Engage

Engage™ is an interactive AAC tool designed for use with assessments and interventions related to access needs. It offers customisable activities and vocabulary grids that help users learn to communicate through fun, skill-building games and videos. Engage can be adapted to each user’s pace, encouraging personal engagement, social interaction, and turn-taking. As skills grow, users can explore more complex choices and even upload their own videos, making communication both accessible and enjoyable.
