The AAC Language Lab provides a variety of supports to help you in the classroom. Through partnership with companies and agencies such as The Center for Literacy and Disabilities, News-to-You, and Gompers Adult Services – the AAC Language Lab is on a mission to bring you the best curriculum options for your students.

Programmes and curriculums include:

  • Getting ready to read. A one-of-a-kind program designed to help students using AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) devices build essential literacy and communication skills. This supportive and research-based approach teaches word recognition, decoding, spelling, and icon sequencing in a way that’s engaging and accessible.
  • News-2-You. A weekly online newspaper designed to help students with special needs connect with the world around them. Through engaging, easy-to-understand articles, students can explore current events, build vocabulary, and expand their communication skills. The AAC Language Lab has partnered with N2Y to bring you a collection of AAC-friendly classroom resources that support learning through descriptive teaching. These tools help students interact with each article using vocabulary already available on their AAC devices – making learning more natural and empowering
  • BRICS. A specialised programme designed to support young adults who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) as they transition from school to work. It focuses on building real-world communication skills, including computer access, daily living, and job-related tasks.
