Mick Davies, AAC Consultant Manager, shares one of many great features in Predictable.

When I’m out in the field, one of the questions I’m asked most often is about language – specifically, how people who use AAC devices can communicate with family or friends who speak a different language. It’s a meaningful question, because language is deeply tied to identity, culture, and relationships.

This is especially relevant in places like the UK, Ireland, and Malta, where communities are wonderfully diverse and multilingual. Walk through any community, school, or workplace and you’ll hear a blend of languages from all over the world. Being able to express yourself in a way that resonates with those around you isn’t just helpful – it’s empowering.

With Predictable AAC, switching between languages is simple, fast, and built for this kind of diversity.

Typing in Your Native Language

Most users find it easiest to type in the language they know best. For me, that’s English. So, I might start by typing: “Hello, my name is Mick.”

Predictable gives you the freedom to build your message naturally, without switching keyboards or thinking in another langua

Translating With Just a Few Taps

Here’s where it gets really powerful. Once your message is ready, Predictable lets you translate it instantly into another language which is perfect for communicating with people who don’t speak your native one. I have Ukrainian heritage myself, and it means a lot to be able to speak to family members in Ukrainian. With Predictable, I can type in English, tap the translation button, select Ukrainian, and the message is converted instantly.

It’s seamless, intuitive, and genuinely useful in multicultural environments like ours.

Why This Matters

Communication is about more than exchanging information – it’s about connection, identity, and belonging. In multilingual communities such as those across the UK, Ireland, and Malta, the ability to speak someone’s language can make conversations more inclusive and meaningful.

Predictable’s translation feature helps AAC users bridge those gaps effortlessly. Whether you’re connecting with family, chatting with friends, or navigating day‑to‑day interactions in a diverse community, this tool lets you express yourself in a way that feels authentic to you and familiar to the people you’re speaking with. Plus, when combined with our Via device, you have powerful amplification to ensure your translated message is heard – wherever you are.
